A 14,00-ton Russian nuclear submarine is set to arrive in Cuba, with its missile range covering Washington, D.C.

The appearance of a Russian fleet in Cuba has escalated tensions between the United States and Russia.

This operation involves a fleet consisting of three surface vessels: the Admiral Gorshkov frigate, the Kama oil tanker, and the Nikolay Chiker ocean-going tug.

The most attention-grabbing element is undoubtedly the Kazan submarine, a newly commissioned fourth-generation advanced attack nuclear submarine of the Russian Navy, known for its excellent stealth, high level of automation, and formidable strike capabilities.

The immediate reason for the Russian fleet's voyage to Cuba is the United States' approval for Ukraine to use F-16 fighter jets for air strikes against Russia, as well as the U.S. testing of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, with a range of 8,000 kilometers, showcasing its capability to strike Moscow within 30 minutes.

In response to these provocations, Russia has decided to demonstrate its military power by dispatching its fleet, including the Kazan nuclear submarine, to Cuban waters, with a possible continuation to Venezuela.

This Russian move is a strong counter to the United States, sending a clear message to not overstep boundaries.

The actions on both sides represent intense strategic maneuvers and power struggles.

The U.S. seeks to curb Russia's actions in Ukraine through escalating military pressure, while Russia aims to showcase its formidable military strength to defend its interests and counter U.S. unilateralism and hegemony.

The Russian fleet's entry into Cuba, the U.S.'s "backyard," has sparked widespread and strong reactions, further exacerbating tensions.

Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio has openly called for punishing the Cuban government for hosting the Russian fleet, criticizing Cuba for supporting Russia in Ukraine and provoking the U.S., suggesting sanctions as a response.

Ukraine's interim representative to the United Nations has also protested the Russian fleet's move to Cuba, calling it a threat that will worsen the situation.

In contrast, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov defended the Russian actions, stating they are merely routine military activities and accusing the U.S. of being the main instigator of the tensions.

Analysts believe this clash reflects the broader strategic stalemate between the U.S. and Russia over Ukraine.

The U.S. aims to restrain Russia through military pressure, while Russia seeks to balance U.S. unilateralism by showcasing its military prowess.

However, such actions are likely to escalate confrontations, making the situation more complex and dangerous.

The presence of a Russian nuclear submarine in the U.S.'s vicinity poses a significant challenge to America's traditional influence in the Americas.

This move increases the risk of military and diplomatic tensions, and if the situation spirals out of control, it could lead to more intense military standoffs and conflicts.

Currently, both sides are locked in a stalemate over Ukraine, with strategic maneuvers entering a highly tense new phase.

Despite the dangers, both the U.S. and Russia are acutely aware of the catastrophic consequences of nuclear war.

Under the mutual deterrence of nuclear capabilities, there may be efforts to de-escalate tensions and avoid descending into full-scale military confrontation.

Regardless of the outcome, this intense power struggle between major nations will have profound impacts on the world.
