As the Chinese army defends the China-Myanmar border, Russian warships arrive at a port in Myanmar.

In the current turbulent global environment, many people overlook that China's neighboring country, Myanmar, is also facing a small-scale civil war.

This conflict not only complicates the domestic situation in Myanmar but also has led to a large influx of war refugees and armed personnel into the China-Myanmar border, posing a threat to China's territorial security and border stability.

Since late August 2024, Chinese border defense forces and armed police have been deployed in the areas bordering Myanmar to respond to the potential influx of refugees and security attacks.

The chaotic situation within Myanmar has forced many civilians to flee the conflict and seek refuge at the China-Myanmar border.

Although China is not responsible for protecting the safety of Myanmar refugees, this influx has put immense pressure on the border situation.

Should the border come under attack, the armed police and the People's Liberation Army stationed at the border will have to take necessary measures to eliminate threats to border stability and security.

The root of Myanmar's civil war lies in deep-seated ethnic conflicts; although the country is not large, its ethnic composition is extremely complex, with ethnic groups exceeding those in China.

Currently, the fighting primarily occurs between the government army of the Bamar ethnic group and other ethnic armed groups, and the escalation of the civil war in Myanmar has evidently begun to negatively impact China.

At the same time, the situation at the border is severe, and the Chinese consulate in Mandalay, Myanmar, suffered a deliberate bombing attack on October 18, fortunately causing no casualties among Chinese consulate staff or local citizens.

Although no organization has claimed responsibility for the incident, it is widely believed to be a pressure tactic and provocation against China.

The Chinese consulate is located in the center of Mandalay, surrounded by Myanmar's security forces patrolling the area. The occurrence of this event has raised suspicions among international experts, who believe it may have occurred with the tacit approval of the Myanmar government.

China quickly exerted pressure on the Myanmar government, demanding effective measures to protect Chinese employees in Myanmar and a thorough investigation into the bombing incident to hold those responsible accountable.

Regardless of whether the Myanmar government was involved, this incident sent a warning to various factions within Myanmar, reminding them not to provoke China lightly.

Although China and Myanmar maintain friendly diplomatic relations on the surface, the Myanmar government cannot fully control all affairs within its territory.

The situation in areas inhabited by ethnic minorities is even more complex.

The pressure at the China-Myanmar border continues to escalate. If external forces incite Myanmar refugees to storm the Chinese border, the situation will further complicate.

China has consistently called on all parties in Myanmar to handle internal affairs properly to avoid bringing unnecessary troubles to China.

The impact of the situation in Myanmar on China is not surprising; however, it is unexpected that the Russian Pacific Fleet's warships are visiting Myanmar's Dala port at this time.

Russia has not conducted military operations in Southeast Asia for many years, and this visit has drawn widespread attention.

Although Myanmar is not within Russia's traditional security sphere, Putin's actions clearly convey a strategic signal.

The Russian side stated that this visit aims to conduct joint exercises with the Myanmar Navy to strengthen bilateral relations.

However, military experts believe that Russia's move may be related to strategic coordination with China.

The shadow of the United States has always loomed over the Myanmar civil war, and its actions in Southeast Asia are closely linked to America's Asia-Pacific strategy.

Russia's involvement will undoubtedly enhance the influence of both China and Russia in Southeast Asia, thereby weakening the United States' dominance.

This shift in the situation is positively significant for the stability of Southeast Asia.

For Russia, enhancing its influence in other regions also helps alleviate the pressure from the West on the Russia-Ukraine battlefield, ensuring its strategic interests globally.

In conclusion, the turmoil in Myanmar poses challenges for China, while also making China-Russia strategic cooperation increasingly important.

Russia's involvement adds support for China in managing regional affairs and helps maintain cooperation between China and Russia in geopolitical matters.
