Cristiano Ronaldo once again tops the athlete income list for the fourth time, with $260 million!

Updated: Jun 5

Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) has once again topped Forbes biweekly athlete income list, marking the fourth time he has achieved this in his career.

Reportedly, after joining Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr Football Club, CR7 became the world's highest-earning athlete.

According to Forbes, the 39-year-old Ronaldo's total income this year is approximately $260 million, setting a new record for footballers.

His on-field income reached $200 million, while his off-field income amounted to $60 million, mainly derived from sponsorship agreements with major brands.

Ranked second on the income list is Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, whose total income after joining the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational amounts to $218 million.

And third on the list is the record-breaking eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, who joined the Miami International Team of Major League Soccer in the United States, bringing his income to $135 million.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James ranks fourth with an income of $128 million, while Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, also a star in the NBA, ranks fifth with an income of $111 million.

French national football team captain Kylian Mbappé's ranking has dropped to sixth place with an income of $110 million.

Neymar has also joined a team in the Saudi Professional League, ranking seventh with an income of $108 million.

Ranked eighth to tenth in income are French footballer Benzema, American basketball star Stephen Curry, and American footballer Lamar Jackson, respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo's high income stems not only from his outstanding football skills but also from his success in the business arena.

In addition to his performance on the field, he is active in brand endorsements and commercial partnerships, signing contracts with multiple internationally renowned brands as a brand ambassador and image spokesperson. These collaborations not only enrich his personal income but also enhance the visibility and influence of the brands.

For other athletes, in addition to their performance on the field, commercial partnerships have become an important means of increasing income.

More and more sports stars are building themselves into global brands, earning profits through various commercial channels.

This trend of commercialization has further driven the development of the sports industry, becoming the new normal in the sports world.

However, with the intensification of competition in the global sports market and the continuous advancement of commercialization, athletes are facing more and more challenges.

In addition to maintaining excellent performance on the field, they also need to continuously improve their commercial value, cooperate with brands, expand sources of income, and cope with fierce competition and market changes.

Therefore, as professional athletes, they not only need outstanding athletic skills but also need good business acumen and personal charisma to stand out in the fiercely competitive sports market and achieve their professional dreams.
