Diana took a famous photo of the lonely queen at the Taj Mahal, which drove Charles crazy.

Updated: Jun 16

On Valentine's Day in 1992, Diana sat alone on a bench in front of the Taj Mahal, her eyes revealing a sadness greater than death. She took the famous photo of the lonely queen, which broke everyone's hearts and made Charles completely "crazy".

This year, the recording of Charles and Camilla's "large-scale romantic conversation" phone call was exposed. As the heir apparent, he shamed the royal family and the news of his divorce from Diana spread widely.

In order to quell this controversy, Queen Elizabeth II specially arranged a visit to India for them during Valentine's Day, hoping that they could create an atmosphere of marital love through this trip to India, and also hoping that they could repair their relationship with each other.

However, contrary to expectations, this trip to India did not achieve the expected results and instead accelerated the process of Charles and Diana's breakup.

In fact, Diana is looking forward to this trip to India as she loves the mysterious Eastern culture.

The Indian people have also shown great enthusiasm for this "English rose". When Diana first arrived in India, she was full of enthusiasm and chatted happily with the accompanying people. Perhaps she still had some expectations for the future of her marriage.

On Valentine's Day, the original itinerary was for Charles and Diana to visit the Taj Mahal together, which symbolizes eternal love.

However, Charles changed his itinerary without authorization and was unwilling to go to a place symbolizing love with a woman he didn't love.

Diana had to go alone to visit the Taj Mahal, gazing at the magnificent buildings, beautiful scenery, and touching emotions. Diana thought of her terrible marriage and the injustices she had suffered after marrying into the royal family for over a decade. She sat on a bench in front of the Taj Mahal, her head down, and her expression dimmed.

Diana no longer wanted to present the illusion of marital harmony with Charles to the media. She sat alone on a bench at the entrance of the Taj Mahal, looking at the camera with a sadness that was greater than death in her eyes.

The sunshine cast a shadow on Diana, dressed in red and adorned with solemn white buildings. She looked like a delicate rose, but unfortunately, without her husband's care, everything looked so lonely.

At this moment, the media pressed the shutter button, and the famous photo "Lonely Princess" was born.

The photo was published in British newspapers and immediately caused a huge sensation, also hurting the hearts of the British people. People realized that Charles was a "heartless man" who ruined Diana's happiness.

It is this photo that makes everyone feel sorry for Diana, and the criticism of public opinion is directed towards Charles, making him the target of criticism.

Later, royal experts revealed that the world-renowned photo had severely damaged Charles' reputation. He was in a state of anxiety and was on the verge of going crazy, with public support reaching a new low.

Diana is very good at using media and public opinion to build her own momentum and gain sympathy from the public. However, despite the photos of the Taj Mahal making Charles a target of criticism, he was unable to shake his desire for separation.

At the end of December 1992, the British royal family announced the separation of Charles and Diana. In 1996, they completely divorced and a royal marriage led Diana into a tragic life.

In 2016, Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, visited India and made a special trip to the Taj Mahal. They sat on the bench where their mother Diana had once sat and took photos to commemorate their 5th wedding anniversary.

At the place where his mother set foot to pay his respects, recalling the lonely photo of his mother many years ago, Prince William's thoughts surged and his eyes turned red. Perhaps afraid of his wife seeing him, William silently turned his back and wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes with his hands.

It is touching that history is truly a cycle, and now it seems that Prince William is going the same way as his father Charles. Princess Kate is suffering from cancer, and whether she will become the next Diana is very worrying about the outcome!
