Ronnie O'Sullivan has sharply criticized the World Snooker Championship, saying players need to bring their own food to the venue.

Updated: Jun 5

According to British media Metro, snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan has once again sharply criticized the host venue of the World Snooker Championship, Crucible Theatre.

He pointed out that players have to bring their own food to the venue, and there are no shower facilities in the dressing rooms. The only improvement this year is the provision of mobility scooters for players.

In previous comments, O'Sullivan criticized Crucible's facilities as outdated and not keeping up with the times.

He even suggested that the venue for the World Snooker Championship could be moved to China or Saudi Arabia.

It is worth mentioning that after being eliminated from the World Snooker Championship, O'Sullivan will travel to China to participate in a match and is expected to face Ding Junhui.

In the latest interview, O'Sullivan first acknowledged some improvements at Crucible this year, saying that these small changes made players happy.

He said, "I think Crucible is a bit outdated, maybe it will be updated in the future. I think better facilities should be provided to make players feel more relaxed, such as providing some delicious food on site so they don't have to bring their own food."

He went on to say, "I really like the practice of providing mobility scooters this year, so you don't have to squeeze through the crowd when you come to the venue. This is the first time in many years, and you shouldn't feel inconvenienced when you come to the venue, which is definitely a plus."

O'Sullivan also pointed out the progress made at Crucible this year.

However, he also expressed more expectations and suggestions: "Now the organizers have started to make some small improvements, but if I were to make a wish list, I would suggest being more friendly in terms of facilities, providing larger dressing rooms, more practice tables, and perhaps setting up shower rooms or installing shower facilities in the dressing rooms. If there are smart interior designers or architects, they can completely rebuild this stadium to make it bigger, better, and more modern."

O'Sullivan's comments have sparked widespread attention and discussion in the snooker world and among fans.

His suggestions not only have positive implications for improving the competition environment and enhancing the player experience but also provide valuable reference for the future development of the World Snooker Championship.

As snooker continues to grow and develop, it is believed that the organizers of Crucible and other world-class events will listen to the voices of players, continuously improve and enhance the level and quality of the competitions, allowing more fans and spectators to enjoy the joy and excitement brought by this elegant sport.
