The English menu offered by a Japanese restaurant is much more expensive than the Japanese menu.

Updated: Jun 5

In May of this year, Japan remained one of the popular destinations for outbound travel.

According to official Japanese data, the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan in March this year has exceeded the level of July 2019, setting a record for the highest number in a single month!

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is clearly overjoyed by this situation! He said that he can definitely rely on tourists to make a lot of money this year.

However, although the Japanese people were overjoyed, tourists began to complain.

Recently, a netizen from Taiwan, China, China, posted on the Internet that he went to a very popular barbecue restaurant while visiting Shibuya in Tokyo.

After entering the store, the waiter gave him an English menu, which he initially thought was very thoughtful.

However, he found that the dishes on the English menu were not only fewer than those on the Japanese menu, but also much higher in price.

For example, the same package is priced at 8000 yen and 10000 yen on the English menu, while the price on the Japanese menu is only 4500 yen and 6000 yen.

What made him even more dissatisfied was that after ordering the 8000 yen set meal, he found that only a small slice of each type of meat was served, which was not enough to eat.

But the Japanese customers at the neighboring table spent less money, ate better, and even had a rich variety of seafood.

Netizens and other foreign tourists began discussing the differences in this menu, but were soon stopped by the waiter.

They had to talk to the store manager about it, but he explained that it was a set meal specially designed for foreign tourists.

Angry netizens reported to the police on the spot, but the police stated that in Japan, serving dishes according to the items on the menu is not considered illegal.

In the end, netizens can only consider themselves unlucky.

After being reported by some Japanese media, various issues with this barbecue restaurant were exposed.

And it turns out that this store has long been notorious, with many tourists claiming to have been deceived.

Similar events are not uncommon. Earlier reports stated that "sightseeing wells" are high priced menus designed by some restaurants to attract foreign tourists, which has caused great controversy on social media platforms.

Some experts and store managers explain that the Japanese economy is highly dependent on inbound tourists, and foreign tourists are more willing to spend money seeking non daily experiences, so businesses can raise prices to obtain higher profits.

In the face of this situation, outbound tourists need to prepare strategies in advance.
