The four major lies in history are actually all false.

Updated: Jun 5

These false statements have not only begun to spread recently, and there are even the four major historical lies of the West in history. Even today, some people still firmly believe them.

So, what are these four lies?

Firstly, let's talk about Napoleon's height theory.

Because Napoleon himself was quite famous in modern times, some gossip about him continued to spread, such as stories about how many lovers Napoleon had around him, but the most well-known one was about his height.

In the past, there was a saying circulating on the internet that Napoleon was the pinnacle of dwarves.

It is said that despite his outstanding military performance, his height is only 1.58 meters, making him a typical dwarf monarch.

However, with the reevaluation of historical figures in modern society, Napoleon's height has been reconfirmed.

In fact, his height is 1.69 meters, although not high, he is not short either.

So why did such lies spread?

The reason is that in the past, the measurement of Napoleon's height was in feet, not in feet.

According to the metric unit, Napoleon's height was 5 feet and 2 inches, which corresponds to modern measurement units close to 1.7 meters. However, the British used feet to calculate, and due to different measurement units, his height was only 158 meters.

Furthermore, if Napoleon's height is compared to the average height of Europeans of his time, he is not short either.

According to historians, it was not until 1900 that the average height in France reached 1.66 meters.

If we trace back to the era of Napoleon, this data may be even lower, so at that time, Napoleon's height was quite normal.

Next, we will explore the beauty lies of Cleopatra VII of Egypt.

As a crossroads between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, Egypt has long been influenced by different civilizations. Every Egyptian pharaoh who ascends to power is most concerned about how to maintain their rule in external invasions, and Cleopatra VII of Egypt did the best in this regard.

According to the history we are familiar with, Cleopatra VII relied on his beauty to exert his influence between Caesar the Great and Antony, using his charm and intelligence to prevent the two monarchs from attacking Egypt.

However, according to the analysis of existing Egyptian statues, Cleopatra VII did not conquer two monarchs by his appearance, but by his knowledge and personal charm.

These statues indicate that Cleopatra VII was only 1.5 meters tall, with a broad face and disharmonious features, completely out of line with European aesthetic standards.

Therefore, she is more likely to have conquered Anthony and Caesar with her intelligence and personal charm.

The third lie involves the story of Spartan warriors resisting the Persian army.

The Battle of Thermopylae is one of the famous battles in European history. Traditionally, it is said that the city states of Sparta gathered the most elite warriors of ancient Greece, and at Thermopylae, they blocked 300000 Persian troops at the cost of total annihilation, saving ancient Greek civilization.

However, according to the current objective view, this war was not a battle involving a city of Sparta, but a war between ancient Greece and Persian countries.

Approximately 6000 people were dispatched from ancient Greece, while the Persian army consisted of only a few tens of thousands. Although there was a significant difference in numbers, it was not a difference of three to three hundred thousand.

Otherwise, even the brave Spartan warriors would find it difficult to resist the Persian tactic of a sea of people.

The last lie concerns the authenticity of Trojan horse tactics.

The Trojan horses in the Trojan War are the source of modern famous Trojan viruses.

According to tradition, the ancient Greek army used Trojan horses to infiltrate the city of Troy and ultimately achieved victory.

However, in the mid-19th century, German archaeologists conducted research on the ruins of Troy and found that the size of the Troy gates could not accommodate more than a hundred soldiers entering and exiting at the same time, which questioned the authenticity of Trojan horse tactics.

The reason why these four lies can continue to this day is due to their spreading nature.

People often believe in lies because most people's ideas and concepts lack subjective initiative and are influenced by the opinions of others.

In addition, a small number of people who spread lies often believe that they have the truth, and by spreading rumors, they can gain a sense of existence.

In addition, the number of spreaders of lies is constantly increasing, and even if some people have doubts, they dare not easily express their doubts, which further exacerbates the spread of lies.
