The Taliban has been back in power in Afghanistan for nearly three years, facing attacks from opposition forces.

Updated: Jun 5

Over the past three years since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, they have failed to fulfill their initial promises to the international community and have not succeeded in building Afghanistan into a modern civilized country.

Instead, they have pushed further along the path of implementing Islamic law.

Especially concerning their policies towards women and children, the Taliban's actions have severely violated their rights, disappointing both the international community and the people of Afghanistan.

Recently, the prominent opposition armed group, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), claimed responsibility for an attack on Taliban targets in Kapisa Province, resulting in three Taliban members killed, two injured, and the seizure of a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.

This is just one of many actions by the NRF, which regularly launches attacks on Taliban targets.

What's worse is that various opposition groups within Afghanistan are now joining forces, preparing to collectively overthrow the Taliban.

Previously, although there were many anti-Taliban armed groups, they acted independently and had limited impact on the Taliban's rule.

However, now that these opposition groups are preparing to unite, the threat to the Taliban will become even more severe.

In mid-April of this year, leaders of the NRF and the Afghan Freedom Front, two major opposition armed groups, held a joint meeting and formulated a common strategy aimed at resisting and overthrowing the Taliban.

This was the first time that these two organizations had convened such a meeting, which is seen as a preliminary cooperation agreement in confronting the Taliban.

The NRF and the Afghan Freedom Front are the two largest opposition groups within Afghanistan, and their relationship with the Taliban is complex.

If these two organizations truly unite, it will have a significant impact on the overall situation in Afghanistan.

The emergence and activity of various opposition groups within Afghanistan are primarily due to the Taliban increasingly losing popular support.

The Taliban's governance with extremely strict Islamic law has drawn international attention and contradicts their promises to safeguard the rights of women and children.

The Taliban's counter-terrorism efforts have been ineffective, giving these opposition groups reasons and opportunities to intensify their actions.

At present, the Taliban's situation is extremely difficult, as the international community does not recognize their regime, and the internal situation in Afghanistan could deteriorate at any time.

If the opposition truly unites against the Taliban, it will bring about a huge disaster for Afghanistan.

Therefore, the Taliban must realize that only a government elected by the people can gain support from the international community.
