The voting in the United Nations General Assembly made Serbian President Vučić cry with shame and helplessness.

Updated: Jun 5

On May 23rd, the United Nations General Assembly voted on the issue of "Srebrenica," and the result was stunning.

Led by the United States, the Western camp supported the resolution with 84 votes in favor, only 19 against, passing the resolution with overwhelming support.

This vote was undoubtedly a major diplomatic defeat, leaving Serbian President Vučić in deep sorrow, shedding tears.

What happened to force Serbia, known for its strong stance, to succumb to pressure?

And what were the underlying interests and conflicts? To unravel this mystery, we need to review the entire process of the resolution's passage.

This vote took place amid fierce competition between the American and Russian camps.

Countries led by China and Russia strongly opposed the resolution, viewing it as naked oppression against Serbia.

However, the Western bloc led by the United States pushed for the resolution to pass on humanitarian grounds, aiming to hold Serbia accountable for the atrocities committed during the ethnic cleansing.

This head-to-head confrontation undoubtedly reflects the profound changes in the current international landscape.

The United States and Russia engage in intense gamesmanship on many major international issues, each trying to outmaneuver the other, eager to completely suppress the opponent.

As a result, Serbia, as a party involved, inevitably suffers.

President Vučić understands clearly that the outcome of this vote is not just a diplomatic failure for Serbia but also a significant personal setback for him.

This has left him extremely saddened, shedding tears at the UN General Assembly, a sight that moved many.

Serbia's historical wounds and current predicaments, who could have thought that a seemingly distant historical event would once again become a hot topic today?

However, seeing Serbian President Vučić unable to hide his sorrow and shedding tears at the United Nations General Assembly, it's evident that this historical shadow continues to pierce the heart of the country.

In July 1995, during the final stage of the Bosnian War, Serbian forces carried out a brutal massacre of over 8,000 Muslim men besieged in the town of Srebrenica.

This heinous act of ethnic cleansing remains an indelible historical condemnation by the international community.

For the Serbian people, this pain is an indelible shadow.

For years, they have been trying to apologize and compensate, hoping to gain forgiveness and reconciliation.

However, when this bill of guilt is repeatedly brought up by the international community, Serbians can't help but feel suffocated.

This is not just historical trauma but also current political oppression continuously imposed on Serbia.

The United States and its allies seem to want to use this opportunity, through repeated condemnations and sanctions, to completely defeat this stubborn small country.

As Vučić lamented, despite the repeated apologies and compensations by the Serbian people, they are still unable to escape the fate of being "eternal sinners."

The pain of victims is repeatedly politicized, while the descendants of perpetrators can't seem to escape being vilified.

This despairing situation inevitably reminds people of China and Syria's diplomatic failures on the international stage.

As relatively weak countries, they often find it difficult to resist the pressure and oppression of powerful countries.

Even with considerable apologies and efforts, it's challenging to withstand the tough stance of the other side.

This history witnesses the tragic fate of weak nations. In today's complex international landscape, they often play passive roles, manipulated by powerful countries.

Even with goodwill, it's hard to earn the respect and fair treatment they deserve.

All of this undoubtedly pains the Serbian people deeply.

The pride and strength they once had are now in jeopardy.

Even those heroes who once stood up can only watch helplessly as their country becomes a sacrifice.

What's heartbreaking is that this suffering seems to have no end.

Faced with towering powers, weak countries can only keep retreating and surrendering. The only way out seems to be to completely abandon dignity and become vassals of others.

Vučić's helplessness and awakening, when the UN General Assembly passed the resolution on the Srebrenica massacre with an overwhelming majority, Serbian President Vučić's tears seemed to burst like a dam, leaving the world both moved and puzzled.

What strong emotion drove this? From Vučić's final actions, he seems to have accepted this outcome with resignation.

After the meeting, he bowed his head to kiss the national flag, silently expressing his pain and helplessness.

This scene inevitably brings to mind the frustration and struggle of figures like Yuan Shikai at the Paris Peace Conference in the early 20th century.

For Vučić, the passage of this resolution is undoubtedly a major diplomatic blow.

As a country that once had a certain influence in the Balkans, Serbia is now forced to admit its mistakes at the United Nations General Assembly, undoubtedly dealing a significant blow to Serbia's national image.

But Vučić clearly understands that Serbia, as a weak country, is indeed unable to effectively resist international pressure.

As he said, "Weak countries have no diplomacy." In the current complex international landscape, small countries can onlyrespond passively to the interests of powerful countries.

This encounter undoubtedly deeply touched Vučić.

He realizes that even though the Serbian people have apologized and compensated repeatedly, they are still destined to be "eternal sinners."

The suffering of the victims is repeatedly politicized, while the descendants of the perpetrators seem unable to escape being condemned.

This despairing cycle undoubtedly leaves Vučić deeply helpless.

But behind Vučić's tears, perhaps there is also a hint of awakening.

As a politician, he clearly recognizes that in the complex international landscape, small countries must break free from past constraints and re-examine their foreign policy.

Only by striving constantly can they stand firm on the ever-changing world stage.

This might be the determination and confidence Vučić expressed in his final speech.

He firmly stated that any country attempting to vilify Serbia would ultimately fail.

Because the eyes of the world are clear, and they can see through the conspiracies of countries like the United States.

At the same time, he also believes that peace-loving countries such as China and Russia will ensure the failure of the United States' schemes.

Vučić's words undoubtedly constitute a fierce counterattack.

He seems to have realized that relying solely on Western countries is not feasible, and Serbia must seek new allies and a new way forward.

Countries like China and Russia might become new support points for Serbia's future development.

This transformation undoubtedly signifies a major judgment – in the current international landscape, there are no longer "eternal enemies," only "eternal interests."

Only by understanding this can Serbia break free from the shackles of history and seek a genuine path to development.

The hope and self-reliance for the future, after experiencing this painful diplomatic setback, Serbian President Vučić seems to have understood that to stand firm in the complex and ever-changing international landscape, the key is to enhance their own strength and seek reliable allies.

In his post-meeting speech, Vučić somewhat aggressively declared that any country attempting to vilify Serbia would ultimately fail.

He expressed full confidence that the eyes of the world are clear, and they can see through the conspiracies of countries like the United States.

This speech is undoubtedly filled with determination and confidence.

Vučić seems to have realized that Serbia's past reliance on Western countries for reconciliation only brought repeated blows and humiliations.

Now, he must change this passive situation and actively seek a new path.

And this path might lie in closer cooperation with peace-loving countries like China and Russia.

Vučić firmly believes that with the support of these new allies, the conspiracies of the United States and its Western allies will inevitably fail.

This undoubtedly marks a significant strategic shift.

In the past, Serbia was always considered a member of the Western camp, and its relationship with the United States and even the whole of Europe has always been tense.

But now, Vučić openly declares his intention to strengthen cooperation with countries like China and Russia, which undoubtedly signals a brand-new international landscape.

It's not hard to imagine that this decision will undoubtedly provoke strong dissatisfaction from Western countries.

They have always tried to keep Serbia firmly in their camp, and seeing this traditionally staunch ally "defect" might pose a serious challenge for them.

However, Vučić doesn't care about all this. He understands the harsh reality of "weak countries having no diplomacy" and realizes that only by being strong can Serbia truly stand at the top of the world.

Therefore, he has chosen without hesitation to cooperate with countries like China and Russia, seeking new opportunities for development.
