Israel is known as the "little bully" of the Middle East, having been in a state of conflict almost continuously since its establishment.
Having gone through five major Middle Eastern wars and participated in the Lebanon War, up to the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Israel has relied on advanced weapons provided by the United States to achieve victory in nearly every war, defeating the entire Arab world.
But which countries in Asia have military capabilities that surpass this military power, Israel?
First Place: The People's Republic of China
China is the largest country in Asia, and its military strength ranks at the top in the region.
As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China is the fourth country in the world to possess nuclear weapons and the only Asian nation with medium-range strategic bombers.
China has approximately 2.3 million active-duty troops, with its army equipped with nearly ten thousand main battle tanks and tens of thousands of artillery pieces. The air force has over 1,000 combat aircraft and more than 200 bombers.
In terms of naval strength, China possesses three aircraft carriers, three amphibious assault ships, nearly 50 missile destroyers, and has one of the largest fleets in the world, along with over 60 submarines.
Overall, China's military strength is clearly superior to that of Israel.
Although Israel has won five Middle Eastern wars, most of its adversaries were second-tier countries, such as Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.
These countries are generally weaker and do not pose a real threat.
In contrast, China, since the founding of the People's Republic, has engaged militarily with major powers like the United States, the Soviet Union, India, and Vietnam.
During the Korean War, Chinese forces defeated the United States; in the Sino-Soviet conflict over Zhenbao Island, the Chinese border troops successfully repelled the Soviet army.
In the 1962 Sino-Indian border conflict, China annihilated an entire Indian brigade, thoroughly undermining India's military confidence.
In the 1979 war with Vietnam, Chinese troops, numbering 200,000, advanced deep into Vietnam, nearly capturing the capital. Although they eventually chose to withdraw, they successfully taught a lesson to the Vietnamese army.
Therefore, Israel's combat experience cannot be compared to that of China.
Second Place: India
India is the second largest country in Asia, with a large population and a significant land area, and its military strength ranks second in Asia.
India has approximately 1.3 million active-duty troops and is also a nuclear power.
Although some of India's weapons are not as advanced as those of Israel, its large scale makes it a military powerhouse.
The Indian army is equipped with a significant number of Russian-made T90 and T72 main battle tanks, as well as Western combat aircraft such as the French Mirage 2000 and Rafale fighters, and Russian MiG-29 and Su-30 fighters.
In terms of naval capabilities, India has two aircraft carriers, becoming the first country in Asia to possess aircraft carriers, and its navy's scale and equipment largely exceed those of Israel.
Third Place: Pakistan
The Pakistani military is also a significant force, with a strength of over 500,000 and also possessing nuclear weapons.
Pakistan's military strength is three times that of Israel, and its land area is much larger.
Like Israel, Pakistan is equipped with a substantial amount of Western weaponry, including T80 main battle tanks, VT4 main battle tanks, and American-made F16 fighters, as well as the jointly developed JF-17 fighter with China.
Although Israel has certain advantages in the air force with F15 and F35 fighters, Pakistan has a more significant overall advantage in ground forces.
In terms of naval strength, Pakistan also possesses considerable capabilities, with several modern missile frigates and submarines, overall exceeding the strength of the Israeli navy.
Fourth Place: Japan
Japan's Self-Defense Forces have a total strength of about 250,000, slightly higher than Israel's. Japan is equipped with many advanced weapons, such as the Type 10 main battle tank, F15, F16, F2, and F35 fighters.
Although Japan's Self-Defense Forces are not as large as those of other countries, they are well-equipped and have a highly modernized air force, with at least 300 advanced fighter jets.
In naval terms, Japan's strength overwhelmingly surpasses that of Israel.
The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force is equipped with advanced missile destroyers and conventional submarines, with anti-submarine capabilities ranking among the best in the world, even exceeding those of the U.S. Navy.
Compared to Israel, Japan's navy has clear advantages in tonnage and firepower.
Fifth Place: South Korea
South Korea also ranks highly in military strength in Asia, especially in naval and air force capabilities, with overall strength far exceeding that of Israel.
However, both South Korea and Japan do not possess nuclear weapons, while Israel holds a secret nuclear arsenal.
Overall, while Israel's military strength cannot be underestimated in the region, there remains a significant gap compared to countries like China, India, Pakistan, Japan, and South Korea.
Israel has approximately 170,000 active-duty troops, with the army equipped with over 1,000 main battle tanks and the air force having about 500 modern fighter jets.
Although Israel performs strongly in the air force, its naval capabilities are relatively weak.
In modern warfare, the importance of naval power is increasingly evident, and Israel's navy appears vulnerable in this regard.
Thus, from an overall military strength perspective, there is still a noticeable gap between Israel and other major military powers in Asia.
